What is your favorite beach beer?
Yes, it is that time of year again when people flock from across the globe to the nearest meeting of sand and water. What does this do to beer? Under the heat of the sun, you might find yourself eyeing a refreshing “cold one” rather than a thick, oily porter. Summer is the season of lagers, hefeweizen, and helles: the light beers that satisfy. This is a whole different world for beer: the normal rules don’t apply. So no matter how cheap, mass-produced, or different it is, what is your favorite beach beer?

A little pricey, but Land Shark Lager is one of my favorites to enjoy on the beach. It is brewed in Jacksonville, FL as well as the FL Keys, making it ideal for hot weather. Corona is a fail safe, but it is nice to see a little more variety and tastes in summer beers, great topic choice.

You probably wont be able to find it in the states (SAD DAY-currently working on a solution to it) but its the Montheith’s Summer Ale. You’d also have to order it in winter to get it for summer(since its from this banging country) but its pretty fantastic, and im not one for beer that doesnt taste like beer. Its got hints of honey in it as well as a bit of a ginger nip (if you will) which is pretty fantastic if you’re sitting on a beach in New Zealand under an ozone-less sun.
maybe ill see if i can sneak one of those back with me….

I have to admit, I posted this question because I’m going down to Florida in a few weeks and I’m looking to broaden my options. I usually go for Stella, Kona Longboard, or Dos Equis, but I’m willing to give Land Shark a try. And if I can find Monteith’s Summer Ale anywhere, I will nab a bottle. Thanks for the recommendations!
