Youngs Double Chocolate Stout

ABV: 5.2%
IBU: ?
Price (16.9oz): $3.8-5Chocolate Beast

Dear God. I had this after a year of accidental ageing, and it is like drinking an expensive bar of chocolate. It resembles Guinness in color with a pitch-black body and a cappachino head. The nose interestingly smells more of bread than of chocolate — maybe even yeasty, which is surprising given the 5% alcohol content.

You sure as hell better be in the mood for chocolate. The taste is phenomenal: rich bitters are checked by an expected sweetness, but it is the bitter, dark chocolate that wins. This is thick with velvety malts, although the mouthfeel could be a touch more solid. Regardless, if you want to heed the call of the chocolate, this is your beer (hopefully, for dessert).

Note: a soft ring of head lingers until the stout is finished. That is a sign of a healthy beer.

Drink well,

Thank you! I miss you too, Ben, but imagine what it is going to be like when the whole team is back together again… The place might not be left standing. I’m glad you’ve gotten into stouts. What company is that by the way?
